Founder’s Note
RightsNotSuggestions was created from a simple premise: constitutional rights are not discretionary.
They are not suspended by fear, overridden by convenience, or softened by political pressure. They exist precisely for moments when power is uncomfortable, dissent is inconvenient, and restraint is tested.
This project is a curated collection of witty, ironic, and text-grounded slogans intended for peaceful protest and civic expression. It is not affiliated with any political party or movement. It does not call for confrontation, disruption, or defiance of the law. Instead, it rests on a deeper confidence: that the plain language of the Constitution remains our strongest common ground.
Throughout American history, the most enduring defenses of liberty have not relied on volume or outrage, but on clarity—citizens calmly insisting that the words still mean what they say. Humor, restraint, and irony have often proven more durable than anger.
RightsNotSuggestions exists to preserve that tradition.
Every statement published here is guided by three principles: fidelity to constitutional text, respect for non-violence, and belief in the power of civic literacy. The goal is not escalation, but illumination.
Rights endure when they are remembered, read, and insisted upon—quietly, clearly, and together.
